Homeschooling On a Budget: 10 Resources You Didn't Know You Needed
The UK has once again returned to lockdown and parents have returned to the joys and struggles of homeschooling.
We've put together a list of top 10 homeschooling resources and items for parents of primary school children in the UK. Our top 10 won't break the bank, they're all under £20 and some of them are even free!
Top homeschooling resources include arts and crafts sets, world maps and online resources to help your child learn in a fun and interactive way.
1. Multipack of colouring pens 🖍🖍🖍
This pack of 20 colouring felt tips from Faber is perfect to brighten up your kid's homework. They can use them for Art, or choose a different colour pen to work on different subjects.
2. Stickers 😁
There's no better way to motivate your child to concentrate on their studies! Stickers are a fantastic and easy way to reward kids for their hard work and a little extra something for them to look forward to.
3. Stamps ⭐️
If you're marking your child's work at home, why not pick up some fun stamps to make your job easier.
This 'Well Done' stamp makes a nice addition, as does this simple gold star stamp.
4. Educational Posters 🌎
Posters are a great visual way to learn information. The most useful one has to be a Times Table poster like this one.
Or you could put up a world map to learn about Geography and start conversations about different cultures, such as this lovely colourful Collins poster.
5. Laptop stand 👩🏻💻
If your child is using a laptop to learn, it could be a great idea to buy an ergonomic laptop stand. These improve posture and ensure the laptop is at the right height for your eyeline, to avoid straining your neck.
6. A YouTube subscription to Olaf Falafel 📹
Olaf Falafel posts amazing free Art lessons on his YouTube channel. His Art Club videos teach kids how to draw and are really good fun (not just for your children!).
Drawing is a great way to relax and unwind, and learning how to draw a dancing goat or a Picasso style portrait gives you a pretty great sense of achievement.
7. A box of 1000 craft pieces 🎨
This jumbo box of arts and crafts pieces is only £6 from Hobbycraft.
Keep your child entertained for hours as they create things out of pompoms, pipe cleaners and foam.
8. Quizzes❓❓❓
Kahoot is a brilliant free app that allows you to take quizzes on different subjects or even create your own.
Quizzes are a fantastic way to learn new information, and your child can complete the quiz with you or play with one of their friends online.
9. Free online learning recourses 💻
Khan Academy offer free online lessons for students of all ages. Their content is created by experts and covers all subject areas and levels of study.
10. Ear Plugs 👂🏽
We're only half joking with this one. Homeschooling is tough, and sometimes you just need to sit down and take some time for yourself.
These sustainable ear plugs will help you block out any unwanted noise and have a peaceful break (although we can't guarantee it!)
